About PermaJet Paper and other media
The best way to find out about PermaJet media is to try a Test Pack!
The Digital Photo range are economical papers suitable for general purpose printing using dye-based inks. Pigment based inks such as PermaJet’s own range can be used with the semi-gloss and matt surfaces.
Fibre Base Gloss and Inkjet Canvas were introduced in February 2006. Fibre Base Gloss is the closest match yet to a traditional fibre-based darkroom paper and comes in white and warmtone versions, together with a new extra weight, extra smooth version - Fibre Base Royal. Inkjet Canvas is a stretchable true canvas ideal for the reproduction of artworks etc.
The Image Life range of British-made papers have been developed especially for pigment inks. The proprietary coating is a non-toxic silica binder that actually enhances the vibrance of the inks, increasing the colour gamut. The papers are acid-free, registering a neutral pH of 6.5 - 7.2 and are internally buffered to resist airborne impurities, maximising the life of your images. Alpha 310 and Omega 310 are respectively warm tone and extra white 100% cotton rag acid free papers, while Delta 271 is a lighter weight paper with a brilliant white base.
The Classic Fine Art range of papers have the feel, texture and weight of traditional fine art prints. They are made using pH neutral, mould made art paper with an inert ink receiving layer that is the same on each paper - making changing papers simplicity itself. More general information is available on the PermaJet web site. The range includes a variety of surfaces from perfectly smooth to heavily textured and base colours from bright white to slightly warm. The newest additions to the range are Photo Art Pearl (a fine art version of Oyster) and Portrait White, similar to Portrait but with a brighter, whiter base. Artist, Museum, Portrait, Papyrus and Parchment all have similar characteristics so no changes to the print file are necessary when changing from one paper type to another.
The Double Sided media range is ideal for use in portfolios, specialist cards and low volume high quality books.
If you are looking for a match for the traditional darkroom fine black and white print, we think you can do no better than Fibre Royal paper in conjunction with one of the Epson K3 printers such as the R2400, R2880 and 3800. Prints from this combination have high dmax, bright highlights, and the feel of a traditional fibre-based photographic print.
